The Minardi Team Asia Drivers will be arriving in a positive frame of mind at the Bira Circuit near Pattaya in Thailand for the next round of the Formula BMW Asia Series on June 12th.


Aaron Lim of Minardi Team Asia finished a fine fourth in an eventful race. Dejan de Zoysa was 8th in front of team mate Jonathan Chan. Lim was happy with his race despite losing several places over the first few laps, a reflection of his inexperience.


Malaysian newcomer finished fifth for Minardi Team Asia in round three of the Formula BMW Asia Series. Jonathan Chan finished a fine ninth after starting from the pit lane whilst Dejan de Zoysa retired on the first lap.



Aaron Lim demonstrated he is going to be a force to be reckoned with this year by qualifying second for round three of the Formula BMW Asia Series. A truly dramatic day saw a long stoppage due to track damage which resulted in the chassis of Jonathan Chan being written off.



Malaysian karting star, Aaron Lim, today inked an agreement to join Minardi Team Asia for the 2005 Formula BMW Asia season. His first race will be at the Asian Festival of Speed event to be held at the Sepang International Circuit on May 14/15th. Lim is the only Malaysian to have earned a CIK International A License allowing him to compete at the very highest level of karting.


Chan, Stoddart, de Zoysa
Rounds 3 and 4 of the Formula BMW Asia Series will be held at Sepang F1 circuit in Malaysia on May 15th. The team’s regular drivers, Dejan de Zoysa and Jonathan Chan, are both looking forward to racing on a track they know.




Greg Murphy in his Ambi Pur Team Goddard-Minardi Team Asia Dallara 398 TOM’S car qualified second in class and took a third and fourth place in rounds one and two of the Asian Formula Three Series held at the Batangas Race Circuit on April 10th.







Dado Pena demonstrated his potential by qualifying third in his Ambi Pur Team Goddard-Minardi Team Asia car for the first round of the Asian Formula Three Series held at the Batangas Race Circuit in the Philippines on April 10th.


Mohammed Al Bahranah, driving for Minardi Team Asia in a one off appearance at the Bahrain Support opener of the Formula BMW Asia Series took a fine third place in round two


Abdulla Mattar and Mohammed Al Baharna will join Minardi regulars, Jonathan Chan and Dejan de Zoysa, for the Bahrain GP support race. Their cars will promote the Formula BMW World Final event which will be held at the Bahrain International Circuit in December 2005




Jonathan Chan
Hong Kong based Jonathan Chan will join Dejan de Zoysa for the opeing round of the 2005 Formula BMW Asia Series at the Bahrain GP event on April 2/3rd

Chan has limited racing experience, having concentrated on his studies prior to embarking on a racing career. His only full season was in the 2001 China Formula 2000 Series in which he finished an impressive second overall. Mark Goddard of Minardi Team Asia and crew chief, Roberto Bautista, both ran Jonathan in China F2000 and they expect him to be competitive in F.BMW.


Dado Pena
Dado Pena is graduating from the Minardi Team Asia Formula BMW Team to their Asian Formula Three operation. He will race the team’s Dallara TOM’S 301 car.

Pena drove for the team in Formula BMW Asia over the past two seasons, having graduated from karts at the age of 15. “Dado showed a lot of speed and promise and we are confident we can unlock that potential and convert into Asian Formula Three race wins” reported Mark Goddard of Minardi Team Asia.


The first round of the 2005 Formula BMW Asia Series will now be held at the Bahrain GP on April 2/3. This will give the Minardi Team Asia drivers the opportunity to display their talents to Minardi F1 boss, Paul Stoddart




The Sri Lankan Formula Ford driver signed for Minardi Team Asia after a two test held at the Sepang Circuit on February 1st and 2nd. The 19 year old rookie will be gunning for the Rookie Championship in his first year of International Racing.


Minardi Team Asia are trying out more potential drivers for their 2005 Formula BMW Asia campaign. The Sepang Formula One circuit is the venue for the test in which more young drivers will be given the opportunity to demonstrate their potential to the team.


Filipina Michelle Bumgarner and Indian Armaan Ebrahim were two of the four winners of the $50,000 BMW scholarship held at Bahrain this month. Both Bumgarmer and Ebrahim benefited from the coaching received from Minardi Team Asia’s Martin Quick and Mark Goddard at a pre-scholarship test held by the team at the Sepang F1 Circuit.


The first week of January 2005 saw Minardi Team Asia test three young karters at the Sepang F1 circuit in Malaysia. Filipina Michelle Bumgarner was joined by Indian Armaan Ebrahim and Indonesian Zahir Ali.
