Bradley wins F. BMW round two with Sakurai third

Richard Bradley once again led from start to finish, taking round two of the Formula BMW Series by storm whilst team mate, Kotaro Sakurai, was third after overtaking Carlos Sainz Jr on the last corner of the last lap. Duvashen Padayachee finished eleventh in the 25 car field whilst Nabil Jeffri retired on lap one after being hit from behind suffering terminal damage.

In extremely hot and humid conditions Bradley led the field away after a good start with Sainz, Tunjo, Sakurai and Kyvat forming a five car train. Behind, Nabil Jeffri was tapped into a spin at turn four which sent cars flying in all directions. Yazid slammed into the back of Jeffri putting both cars out on the spot.

Bradley spent the first two laps working out how much grip was in the track, which had changed with over-night rain, and as soon as he was confident he simply pulled away from the pack. Once he had built up a three second lead he simply controlled the gap to the flag. Sainz, Tunyo and Sakurai slowly dropped Kyvat and the three then had a spirited battle for second place. Tunyo found a way past Sainz on lap nine of the ten lap race whilst Sakurai made a fantastic move on the last corner of the last lap to grab the final podium spot.

Padayachee was caught up in the first lap accident at turn four having to go off track in avoidance. He was soon up to twelve place and became embroiled in a fantastic battle with Oon, Wong, Jefferies and Sofyan. He finally finished eleventh after a great drive.

“Its been a fantastic start to the season for Eurasia Motorsport, pole position, two wins and two fastest race laps could not be better.” remarked Eurasia’s Mark Goddard.

Richard Bradley now leads the Driver’s Championship by twelve points whilst Eurasia leads the Team Championship with a fourteen point lead.
