Eurasia guest driver, Dan Cammish, improved his pace with each of the four races held at the Sepang F1 Circuit in Malaysia, just missing out on three podium finishes in the incident packed races. Team mates Aaron Chang and Natasha Seatter were in the thick of the action and had their own private battle in all four races.

Race one saw Cammish slot into third place after a close battle with Irfan Ilyas. He had opened a good gap with a lap to go when Nabil Jeffri slowed with a mechanical problem and managed to block Cammish allowing his team mate, Ilyas, by into third robbing Cammish of a debut podium. Aaron Chang did well to finish 9th from last on the grid after qualifying problems whilst Natasha Seatter went one place better after a strong drive.

Race two ended in disaster for Aaron Chang on lap two when he ran into the back of team mate Natasha Seatter at turn nine. This put him out of the race whilst Natasha did well to finish 10th with a bent rear wing. Cammish was again in the battle for third place but was forced off the road during the battle with the Petronas duo, Jeffri and Ilyas. He eventually finished a disappointed 6th.

Aaron Chang finished race three a mere .625 of a second in front of Natasha Seatter after a race long battle whilst Cammish was fifth after another close battle with Jeffri and Ilyas. Cammish lost several places at the start of race four but was soon up to fourth place closing on the leaders, at one point almost within striking distance of newly crowned champion, Lucas Auer. However Ilyas lunged past and whilst they battled it allowed Auer to get away. Once clear of Ilyas, Cammish pulled away to finish fourth. Aaron Chang again finished in front of Natasha Seatter, this time by .694 of a second!

“Dan demonstrated the car is on the pace, he was improving every time out after only a wet test session, one dry practice and qualifying before the race. He did a good job having never driven the car or circuit before and he was racing against drivers who have had hundreds of laps around Sepang” remarked Eurasia’s Mark Goddard. “Aaron did a great job, getting quicker with each race whilst Natasha again proved she is real racer”.

British racing star, Daniel Cammish, has joined Eurasia Motorsport for the Formula JK Racing Asia Series finale at the Sepang F1 Circuit. After minimal track time he qualified in fifth place for the first race to be held on Sunday December 4th at the Malaysian track.

The first time Cammish had sat in a F.JK car and seen the challenging F1 circuit was for a very wet official test on Saturday. He adapted quickly to the car and posted fifth fastest lap in very challenging conditions. Qualifying was dry and he was again fifth fastest just over a second off the pole time. Cammish is confident he will be on the pace for the four races which will be run on Sunday.

Natasha Seatter did a good job to step out of her Formula Pilota Car after a 12 lap race and straight into the Formula JK for qualifying. Eighth fastest time was her reward. Aaron Chan was also car jumping, having finished second in the preceding F.Pilota event but problems consigned him to 13th place.

Jordan Oon took a dominant win in the F.Pilota Master main race held at the Sepang F1 Circuit. Eurasia Team Mate, Aaron Chang, finished second whilst Natasha Seatter was sixth. Eurasia Motorsport won the Formula Pilota Master Team Championship having taken a one-two in both the qualifying and main races.

Aaron Chang made a flying start from pole position to take a large lead from Jordan Oon. Natasha Seatter dropped to the back of the field after a slow getaway due to too much wheel-spin.

Over the next two laps Oon gradually reeled in the leader and once on his tail he was quickly past to take a lead he held to the flag. He pushed all the way to the flag in the twelve lap race, consistently setting fastest race laps without putting a foot wrong. Chang drove a controlled race to second completing a good event having won the earlier qualifying race.

Meanwhile Natasha Seatter was having a more fraught race, battling with race one nemesis, Zheng Sun, after he had spun out of third place. This time they avoided contact and at the flag they were split by Stefano Montesi, Natasha finishing less than half a second behind the Italian.

“It’s been a good day for the team, winning both races. Jordan and Aaron both produced great drives when they took victory and Natasha proved herself to be a real racer. We are already looking forward to next season!” reported Eurasia’s Mark Goddard.

Aaron Chang took a consummate win in the F.Pilota Masters at the Sepang F1 Circuit qualifying race soaking up race long pressure from team mate, Jordan Oon. Natasha Seatter finished third on the road giving Eurasia Motorsport a podium lockout but she was given a time penalty for causing an avoidable accident and dropped to fifth in the results.

The race took place in greasy conditions as the track had not fully dried from the torrential rain which had caused the race to be postponed from the previous day. Chang made a good start whilst fellow front row starter, Jordan Oon, was a little slow away and was taken by Zheng Sun on the run up to turn one. Oon was quickly by Zheng with a neat move into turn four and was soon on the tail of the leader. Chang and Oon spent the rest of the race swapping fastest race laps pulling away from the rest of the field at a rate over two seconds a lap. Try as he might Oon was unable to break Chang’s defences and they completed a fine one-two for the team.

Natasha Seatter meanwhile was having a frustrating race attempting to find a way past a fiercely defending Zheng Sun. It all came to head under braking when Zheng slowed “more than I expected” and she punted him into a spin. The stewards issued a 30 second penalty dropping her to 5th in the results but it was a feisty drive from the local driver.

The main race will take place later this morning and a close race is again expected between the Eurasia pace setters.

Aaron Chang qualified on pole position for the Formula Pilota Master race at the Sepang F1 Circuit. Team mate, Jordan Oon, will start alongside him with fellow Eurasia driver, Natasha Seatter, starting on the second row.

Chang’s 2m 6.545 compares well with the previous weekend’s Championship final pole time demonstrating his improvement after a week of testing at the Malaysian circuit. Jordan Oon has been swapping fastest times throughout testing and was disappointed to make a mistake on his fastest lap which cost him a couple of tenths.

Natasha Seatter is splitting the two Super License drivers and is confident she will go one better than her fourth starting position in the race. The grid for the Masters Final will be determined by the finishing positions in the Qualifying race. This was scheduled for this afternoon but torrential rain before the start saw the cars pushed off the grid due to the unsafe conditions and the race will now be held tomorrow (Saturday) morning. The final will also take place on Saturday prior to the start of the 1000km Touring Car event.

Aaron Chang twice finished third in the Asian Driver Class at the final Formula Pilota event held at the Sepang F1 Circuit in Malaysia. He was fifth and fourth overall in the two races. Team mate Jordan Oon finished eighth and seventh on his Formula Pilota debut.

Aaron Chang qualified fifth for race one whilst Oon would start from eighth in the 15 car field. Poor starts saw both drivers lose places on the first lap but they clawed their way back up through the field to finish in seventh and eighth places. The grid for race two is determined by a driver’s fastest race one lap time and this resulted in Oon starting in 5th and Chang 6th.

Oon was again slow away at the start and dropped back through the field. He gradually made his way up to seventh and was closing in on 6th place but ran out time to make a challenge. He did post 4th fastest race time demonstrating his improvement in pace over the race weekend. Chang made a good start to slot into 4th place and he drove a good race to pull away from the field and was in fact closing on third place at the flag.

“ Aaron has made a step forward after his first F. Pilota race at Tianma in China and Jordan gets quicker every time he sits in the car” reported Eurasia’s Mark Goddard.

The non-championship Formula Pilota Masters race takes place on December 1-3 also at the Sepang Circuit.

Team mates, Frank Yu and Samson Chan, both suffered damaged Ford GT3 cars in an incident filled event which featured a race stopping multi-car accident at the infamous Mandarin Bend.

Two short twenty minute qualifying sessions resulted in finding a clear lap almost impossible. Those drivers lucky enough to be allocated positions at the end of the pit lane were able to join the circuit at the front of the queue after the inevitable session stopping red flags. Unsurprisingly seven of the top ten came from that end of the pit lane. Craft Eurasia was at the wrong end and suffered accordingly. In Qualifying One Fujii spun his Aston at Fishermans bend on his first flying lap, removing the rear wing and damaging the exhaust. His one timed lap, which included his spin, was still good enough for 14th in the 33 car field. Frank Yu was 8th overall, 2nd in the GT Asia Class with Samson Chan 11th overall. Both Ford GT drivers complained of a lack of a clear lap.

Frank Yu recorded a time good for 5th overall, first in GT Asia, in qualifying two but it was removed due to crossing the line just a second after the red light came on to stop the session. Ironically the light was for team mate, Samson Chan, who had slammed into the barrier on the approach to Dona Maria corner. Samson’s data logging showed he was also on a lap good for 5th place when he crashed due to running slightly offline in the kink before the turn. Once the mess was cleared up neither Frank Yu nor Tomonobu Fujii could find a clear lap and they ended the session in 9th and 7th places respectively. Samson would be unable to race due to severe damage to the car.

The race start was clean and Edoardo Mortara swept into a lead he would hold to the flag. He was followed by Pro Drivers Keita Sawa, Danny Watts and Rodolfo Avila. Mok Weng Sun was in 5th and leading the GT Asia Class from the Audi of Tsukuki and Fujii in the Aston Martin. Frank Yu was in hot pursuit doing a good job to keep up with the Japanese drivers. It all went wrong on lap three when an oil cooler pipe came adrift on Tsukuki’s Audi just before the high speed Mandarin Bend and sprayed copious amounts of oil on the racing line. A closely following Fujii saw flames coming from the back of the Audi and jinked past the slowing car. Frank Yu attempted to slow as much as he could, aware braking on the oil would mean disaster, and it looked like he had made it before he lost the back end on the exit and gracefully spun across the track and slammed into the barrier. “I saw 268kph before Mandarin so it was high speed spin that seemed to go on forever” reported Yu.

Eddie Yau was next up and he slammed into the barrier ending up in the middle of the track. A Ferrari then slammed into the stricken Yau Porsche which destroyed both cars. A couple more cars were involved resulting in a blocked track and a red flag.

It took over an hour to clean up the mess and put down enough cement dust to soak up the oil. A seven lap re-start saw Fujii chase down a 5th placed Mok, taking the place on lap six.

“The Fords were handling really well and with luck Frank and Samson should have been racing for the GT Asia lead” reported Craft Eurasia’s Mark Goddard. “Fujii had the speed we think to finish on the podium, it was his first visit to Macau and he was the first Macau rookie home. If he had not crashed in Qualifying One it may have been a different story. We are already looking forward to next year!”
