Eurasia Motorsport was founded in 2003 by Mark Goddard, Martin Quick and Piers Hunnisett. As it name suggests it is a fusion of the best Europe and Asia can offer in motor sport.
All three founders have a wealth of motor racing experience in Europe and they have used their expertise to good effect since settling in the Asian region in 1994. In its second year Eurasia was chosen by the Minardi F1 Group to run its junior team, known as Minardi Team Asia. Success was immediate with race wins in Formula BMW Asia and Asian Formula Three, the latter including the Promotions Class Championship honors.
Eurasia Motorsport, under its own name once Minardi F1 was sold to Red Bull, has gone on to take may more race wins and achieve championship successes in F.BMW Asia, Asian F3 and V6 Asia. Success for Eurasia and its staff has not just been in Formula Racing but also in events such as the prestigious Merdeka 12 Hours race at Sepang where Martin Quick has twice engineered the race winning car.
MARK GODDARD – TEAM PROPRIETOR
A race winner in Europe in many categories, ranging from Formula Cars to GT cars, Goddard moved to Asia in 1994 and has managed some of the regions most successful teams, including the multi-title winning Toyota Alabang Team in the Philippines and Ghiasports Racing in China. After winning the Asian F3 Drivers Championship in 2002 he has concentrated on Eurasia Motorsport and its sister team, Team Goddard. Goddard is also a successful driver coach, having previously been chief instructor at the Silverstone Race School in the UK.
MARTIN QUICK – TEAM PROPRIETOR
Martin was technical director of Eurotech Motorsport and led them to eleven British National Porsche Championship wins from 1989 to 1993. He was also Team Manager of a factory supported Peugeot team in the British Touring Car Championship and was Team Manager for the Eurotech BMW Team which finished 2nd in the British Saloon Car Championship and won the prestigious Willhire 24 Hour Race. Since moving to Asia in 1994 he has been the Team Manager/Engineer for two AF2000 Championship winning campaigns and twice engineered the race winning car in the prestigious Merdeka 12 Hour race. He joined Mark Goddard and Piers Hunnisett in forming Eurasia Motorsport in 2003.
PIERS HUNNISETT – TEAM PROPRIETOR
Hunnisett was an extremely successful Formula Car driver in Europe before moving to Asia where he has developed into the most successful driver manager in the region. He has been responsible to placing Narain Karthikeyan and Nicolas Kiesa in Formula One and his other charges include A1GP drivers, Ananda Mikola and Moreno Soeprapto. Hunnisett is also a respected race engineer and driver coach.
RACE ENGINEER AND CREW CHIEF – ROBERTO BAUTISTA
“Berto” Bautista worked for many seasons as an engineer for the Philippine based MP Turbo Team before joining Mark Goddard at Ghiasports Racing in Zhuhai, China to run China Formula 2000 Cars. Berto joined Eurasia/Team Goddard in 2002 and engineered Mark Goddard’s Formula Three to Championship success and the team to Promotion Class victories in 2003, 2004 and 2007 together with the Team Championship in the AF3 Pacific 2007 Series and the F.BMW Asia Rookie Cup.
LEAD TECHNICIAN – Alan Cruz
Alan Cruz was lead technician on Mark Goddard’s 2002 Championship winning Formula Three and now acts a number one technician on the teams Formula BMW and Formula Three Cars.
LEAD TECHNICIAN – JHONARI DE MESA
Jhonari worked alongside Berto Bautista for many years and joined Eurasia/Team Goddard in 2003 as technician for the Promotion Class winning car of Jojo Silverio. He is a lead technician on both F.BMW and F3 teams.
LEAD TECHNICIAN - Francis Cadacio
Francis also worked with Berto Bautista before joining Eurasia in 2003 preparing the Formula BMW cars. He also works for both F.BMW and F3 teams.
LEAD TECHNICIAN – Tolentino Gamba
Tolentino had many years experience working for Philippine Touring Car teams before joining the team in 2003 as lead F.BMW technician.
LEAD TECHNICIAN – Richelito Artillaga
Richelito joined the team in 2003 to act as assistant technician for the F.BMW team. He had previously worked for several seasons in Philippine Touring Cars. He is now a lead technician and a valued member of the team.
TECHNICIAN – Virgillio “Vio” Joco.
Vio joined the Mark Goddard managed Toyota Alabang Racing in 1996 as a “gofer” and followed Goddard to Formula Three. He is now an accomplished race mechanic working on both F3 and F.BMW cars.
TECHNICIAN – Jason Bautista.
Jason, brother of Berto, joined the team in 2003, and is following in his elder brother’s footsteps and is a talented race car mechanic.
TECHNICIAN/ELECTRICAL ENGINEER – Lito Bondad.
Lito was recruited by the Team in 2006 for his skills as an auto electrician and is a valued member of the team and regarded as one of best auto electricians in Asian Motor Sport.
